Cookie Policy

Last updated October 4, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Satiate Studio Ltd (doing business as Collectd) (“Company,” “we,” “us,” and “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies to recognize you when you visit our website at https://collectd.io (“Website”). It explains what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control our use of them.

In some cases we may use cookies to collect personal information, or that becomes personal information if we combine it with other information.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by website owners in order to make their websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.

Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, Satiate Studio Ltd) are called “first-party cookies.” Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called “third-party cookies.” Third-party cookies enable third-party features or functionality to be provided on or through the website (e.g., interactive content and analytics). The parties that set these third-party cookies can recognize your computer both when it visits the website in question and also when it visits certain other websites.

Why do we use cookies?

We use cookies and similar storage for two purposes on our Website:

  • Essential authentication. A session cookie, set by our authentication provider (Better Auth), keeps you signed in as you use your account. It is required for authenticated features to work and does not require consent under applicable law.
  • Analytics. Storage set by PostHog helps us understand which pages and features are used, so we can improve the Website. It is set only after you choose “Accept analytics” on the consent banner shown on your first visit. PostHog runs in the European Union, and our Website sends analytics to it through our own subdomain (d.collectd.io) rather than to a third-party domain.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, we do not run targeted advertising, and our analytics provider does not follow you across other websites.

What cookies do we set?

The following table describes the cookies used on our Website:

Cookie or storage keyTypePurposeDuration
Better Auth session cookieEssential (first-party)Maintains your authenticated session after you sign in. Required for the Website to function for logged-in users.7 days
ph_phc_zH7TrpqMs95gFNJ6hPbJrvNotHKARZxfLGYCwmnBRRC9_posthogAnalytics (first-party)Stores an anonymous identifier so we can tell a returning visit from a new one and count how the Website is used. Set only after you accept analytics.Up to 365 days
__ph_opt_in_out_phc_zH7TrpqMs95gFNJ6hPbJrvNotHKARZxfLGYCwmnBRRC9Essential (first-party storage)Records whether analytics is switched on or off, so the banner and the analytics client both respect your choice.Until you clear it
collectd-cookie-consentEssential (first-party storage)Records the choice you made on the banner (accepted or rejected). Contains no personal information.Until you clear it

The PostHog entries above are the only non-essential storage we set, and only after you accept analytics. Alongside the identifier, PostHog writes session-scoped bookkeeping keys under the same ph_ prefix — a window id, a page-load flag, and the properties registered at the start of the session. They last for the browsing session, and withdrawing consent deletes them along with everything else. We do not set any third-party or advertising cookies.

How can I control cookies?

You have the right to decide whether to accept or reject analytics. On your first visit, a consent banner lets you choose between “Accept analytics” and “Reject analytics”:

  • Accept analytics — PostHog storage is set so we can understand how the Website is used.
  • Reject analytics — no analytics storage is set and nothing is recorded.

Your choice is stored on your device under the key collectd-cookie-consent.

You can change your choice at any time by clicking Cookie settings in the footer of any page. The banner re-opens showing which way your choice currently stands, and you can choose Reject analytics to withdraw consent — capture stops immediately, the analytics storage listed above is deleted, and nothing further is recorded — or Accept analytics to switch it back on. As a fallback, you can remove the keys listed above through your browser’s site-data settings or cookies menu.

Blocking the essential session cookie will prevent you from signing in to your account. You can still browse the public pages on the Website without any cookies.

How can I control cookies on my browser?

As the means by which you can refuse cookies through your web browser controls vary from browser to browser, you should visit your browser's help menu for more information. The following is information about how to manage cookies on the most popular browsers:

What about other tracking technologies, like web beacons?

Cookies are not the only way to recognize or track visitors to a website. We may use other, similar technologies from time to time, like web beacons (sometimes called “tracking pixels” or “clear gifs”). These are tiny graphics files that contain a unique identifier that enables us to recognize when someone has visited our Website or opened an email including them. This allows us, for example, to monitor the traffic patterns of users from one page within a website to another, to improve site performance, and to measure the success of email marketing campaigns. In many instances, these technologies are reliant on cookies to function properly, and so declining cookies will impair their functioning.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Please therefore revisit this Cookie Policy regularly to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies.

The date at the top of this Cookie Policy indicates when it was last updated.
